Angus Contact Centre

What is a Contact Centre?

A Contact Centre is a neutral welcoming place where non-residential parents can see their children and be encouraged by staff to establish and develop a good relationship with their children.

The Role of the Contact Centre

Contact Centres are particularly important for families where:

  • The absent parent lives a long way away or has no suitable accommodation to take children to.
  • Relationships are poor and help is needed to avoid disagreements spoiling the time parent and child have together
  • The child has lost contact with the absent parent or never had much contact.

Benefits of using a Contact Centre

  • Easing tension between both parents. Arrangements can be made so that parents need not meet.
  • Peace of mind for the residential parent knowing the children are in a neutral safe environment.
  • The Centre can be used as a "handover" place.
  • The Centre can provide a stop gap to a more permanent arrangment.
  • Use of the Centre can reduce the time a child has to wait before seeing the non-residential parent.
  • The Centre helps maintain some degree of contact between parents helping to heal any breach of trust that exists between them.
